70 ЛЕТ МБС - ММБИ В 1989 году Мурманский морской биологический институт был переведен в город Мурманск при сохранении и активном использо вании базы для экспериментальных работ в Дальних Зеленцах. В 1992 году на базе ММБИ в Мурманске был открыт первый на севере России Океанариум - совре менный научно-познавательный комп лекс, одновременно являющийся науч но-экспериментальной базой для работы специалистов в области фи зиологии, этологии и зоопсихологии морских животных. В 1998 году создан отдел океанографии и биологии южных морей (г. Ростов-на-Дону), с 2001 г. это Азовский филиал ММБИ. Сегодня на базе Азовского филиала ММБИ Кольского научного центра РАН и отделов Южного научного центра РАН формируется институт морских экосистемных исследований. Накопленный МБС-ММБИ с 1935 г. опыт по организации комп лексных исследований в Арктике пос лужил аргументом для разработки Институтом морских ОВОС при раз ведке и добыче нефти и газа на арктическом шельфе, открыв широкие возможности сотрудничества с «Газ промом», «Росшельфом», «Севмор- нефтегазом», нефтяной компанией «Лукойл» и др. На протяжении двух последних десятилетий Институт активно участву ет в реализации федеральных целе вых научных программ по исследова нию природы Мирового океана. Сегодня научная жизнь ММБИ протекает не только в экспедициях и лабораториях. Она насыщена региональными, всероссийскими, международными конференциями, которые организует институт. Встречи ученых помогают координировать работы по изучению шельфовых морей России. МБС, сотрудниками 1 9 5 5 , In 1989, Murmansk Marine Biological Institute was transfer red to the city o f Murmansk. A t the same time its experimental base at Dalnie Zelentsy was kept and used actively. In 1992, in Murmansk on the basis o fMMBI thefirst in the North o f Russia oceanarium was opened. It is a modern scientific and cognitive complex as well as a scientific and experimental base fo r the work ofnational andforeign s p e c ia lis ts in th e f i e l d o f physiology, ethology and zoo psychology o fmarine animals. In 1998, the Department o f Oceanography and Biology o f the southern seas o f Russia (Rostov- o n -D o n ) w a s e s ta b lis h e d , reorganized into the Azov Branch o f ММВI in 2001. Nowadays the Institute o f M arine Ecosystem Investigations is being form ed on the basis o f the MMBI Azov Branch, Kola Scientific Center and departments o f South Scientific Center o f the Russian Academy o f Sciences. MMBI's experience in comp lex marine research in the Arctic has enabled EIAs (Environmental Impact Assessment) projects fo r oil and gas prospecting and extraction on the Arctic shelf to be carried out. This work has given good opportunities fo r coope ration with Gazprom, Rosshelf Lukoil and other Russian oil companies. During the two last decades, the Institute has been actively participating in realization o f S p e c ia l F e d e r a l R e se a r c h Programs on the study o fthe World Ocean's environment. MMBI's scientific activities are not focused only on expedi tionary and lab research. It includes numerous regional, all- Russian, and international confe rences that are organized by the Institute. Meetings o f scientists stim ulate coordination o f the activities to studies o f the shelf seas. M M B I closely cooperates with the higher education. On the in itia tiv e o f MMBI, severa l departments were established at M u rm a n sk S ta te T e c h n ic a l University, and Murmansk State Pedagogical University. Confe rences o f students and young scientists have already become a tradition at MMBI. Students and post-graduates from the largest higher educational institutions o f Russia have their practice on the scientific base o f the Institute in the settlement o fDalnie Zelentsy. MMBI's scientific activities attract well-deserved attention o f the Russian Academy o f Sciences an d the G overnm ent o f the Russian Federation. The Institute was visited by Presidents o f the A cadem y o f Sciences o f the USSR M.V. Keldysh (1966) and G.I. M archuk (1988) and by President o f Russian Academy o f Sciences Yu.S. Osipov (2001).
